Weekend Rage Update
Even on my best days, I’m not able to give all I used to be able to give. These days I’m lucky if I can get three or four good hours of work before my brain starts to wonder off and take a stroll.
I guess that’s just one of the things that comes from getting older. You can’t do all the things you used to do plus, even if you could, you wouldn’t be able to enjoy them as long. Sucks.
They say with age comes wisdom. That’s probably true, But I would trade a bit of wisdom for a full day or two of solid work and the ability to sit for long periods of time without my back starting to feel like a tiny man is sticking a knife in it and twisting. I don’t want much, really.
I also don’t want this to sound like I’m complaining too much. I’m really not. There are a lot of positive things happening in my life. Still, thinking about it more, I’m pretty sure I’m not going to age gracefully.
I think I’m going to have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into that good night. Rage? You betcha. Against lots of things, machines included.
But I think that’s good sometimes. It helps keep you alive to be still fighting the good fight.
Okay, that’s done for now. If you celebrate Easter, have a happy one.
If not, enjoy one of the greatest inventions ever devised: the weekend.
See you on the other side.
London Bombs
Of course you have heard about the bombs in London today. For good coverage, check out my friends at Londonist and also quite a few links at BoingBoing and at Flickr there are several ongoing photo groups with pictures from the blasts etc.
As for me, my only response to this latest terrorist attack is to be even more determined to go on living my life and doing all the shit that I normally do. No fucking coward living in a hole in the desert who doesn’t have the balls to put on a uniform and face us like a man in a real war deserves any more of my attention than for me to say “fuck you”.
Anyone who straps explosives to his body and blows up a bus or train full of innocent working people isn’t worth a moment of pity or consideration. That person is a complete fucking moron deluded into thinking that he is somehow doing God’s work.
I’ve got news for you dickhead and for all you other terrorists out there, there isn’t a hole you can hide in forever. Sooner or later, we’re gonna be there. Then, you will know what real power feels like. Enjoy what few moments you have left fuckers because they are numbered.
Sorry if I am using more colorful language than usual but this kind of thing makes me angry and I feel like I need to express it. Anyway, I’m lucky that anyone I know or care about wasn’t hurt today. To those of you who have people you know and care about that were affected by these events, my thoughts are with you.
Ok, I’m done.
New Stuff and a bit of a rant
Apple introduced some new iPods the other day. They are really cool and they also dropped the prices which is extra really cool. For all the 411, check this out or this.
I will also be cutting this entry short (I know, I know) as I am in the middle of a big server and client rollout and have been pulling 12 to 14 hour days for the last two weeks. Its really not that bad and I am used to it from my previous experiences in showbiz. So, all in all, good fun.
The great part about what I am doing now is that people are actually happy to have new computers and new servers and for the most part will be happy to see you and grateful for your help. In the other business you get many more giant egos who who feel the need to throw their weight around trying to prove something.
In reality, they are just a bunch of scared babies who would never make it in any other business. Nobody would tolerate their bullshit. Unless they went into politics or something.
Anyway, its nice to work with people who are cool. Oh, I want to mention who we are doing this work for. Its for a great non-profit group here in Santa Monica called Heal the Bay. They do good work and you should go there and give them some money. They can use it.
Later.
